Role Overview
As a Social Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering statutory childrens services, supporting families, and safeguarding children and young people. Youll work collaboratively with other professionals to make a meaningful impact in your community, ensuring children have the opportunity to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain your Social Work England registration and carry out statutory tasks in line with the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation.
  • Conduct assessments of childrens needs and create effective, timely plans.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children while working with families to build self-reliance.
  • Use evidence-based methods of intervention to support positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Prepare and present high-quality reports for court and professional meetings, including giving evidence in legal proceedings when required.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records using computer systems.
  • Work closely with other professionals, agencies, and families to provide joined-up support for children and young people.
  • Engage in supervision, appraisal, and ongoing professional development, ensuring your practice remains current and reflective.
Requirements Qualifications and Registration
  • A recognised Social Work Degree or equivalent qualification (e.g., CQSW, DIPSW).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • DBS clearance.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of child safeguarding, early help, and statutory processes.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection Procedures and evidence-based approaches to assessment and intervention.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage complex cases.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency partners and within a team.
  • Experience
  • For entry-level (ASYE): Some experience with assessments and plans relating to Child in Need or Child Protection.
  • For Level 2 & Level 3: Proven experience in complex assessments, permanency planning, and court proceedings.
  • For Level 3 (Experienced Social Worker): Significant post-qualification expertise and the ability to mentor junior staff.
Other Requirements
  • Access to a car and willingness to travel across the county.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours when needed.
