Role: Head of Category - Capital

Salary: Up to £114k plus benefits (including car, Bonus up to 20%, Private Medical, generous Pension, Life Insurance)

Location: Working from home with occasional travel to Warwickshire

The Head of Category - Capital will sit within a major Utilities organisation, who are leading the way to Net Zero and decarbonising their Electric and Gas systems, with investments of over £60bn across the next 5 years in new partnerships, technologies and unlocking opportunities for success.

Our client is currently undergoing a major Procurement and Supply Chain transformation, aimed at driving increased capacity and capability, via introduction of a new operating model and growth of their Procurement department by 100 heads. A new, organisation-wide capability model has been developed, encompassing 12 capabilities spanning people, process, and technology.

This role will report directly to the VP Procurement, taking the lead from a Category perspective and owning specific, named, £multi-million Categories across the business. This is a strategic, Business Partnering role, to deliver full, end-to-end category management, and drive Commercial value, operational improvement and efficiencies.

You will partner with Senior Stakeholders and Executives to understand Procurement priorities, to provide commercial insight and recommendations, as well as developing and leading a suite of Category Strategies.

Aligned to your category ownership, you will create and nurture key, strategic relationships with critical suppliers ensuring they are engaged and enabled to meet business needs. You will also lead a innovative and value-focused team of direct and indirect reports, ensuring employee engagement and championing delivery of strategic objectives.

Requirements:

Solid understanding and experience of large, Capital programmes.
Credibility to manage and influence senior stakeholders in the Capital space.
Prior, end-to-end experience in a Category Environment, with evidence of building up strategic Business Partnering.
Experience in major Energy, Petrochemicals or Utilities.
Ability to create robust category strategy and actionable category intelligence.
Excellent Leadership ability, coupled with expert influencing and negotiation skills.
Agile, with the ability to operate in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
