Key Responsibilities
will be expected to work shifts with the following specific duties
Be the eyes and ears of the Senior SCL Engineer and will report to him on work progress
Record the works as they progress (validation & verification)
Monitor the construction teams implementation of the design and their application of the agreed / approved process record all NCRs and closeout.
Maintain records relating to the excavation sequence, progress and materials application
Document and report on the construction teams usage of tool box items
Visually inspect the applied materials and keep records of reinforcement installation and the integrity of connections
Confirm compliance with RESS and record all aspects of SCL cycle for feedback to the Senior SCL Engineer
Prepare daily reports for issue to the Senior SCL Engineer, including reporting contractors excavation progress
Visually inspecting applied sprayed concrete quality
Take a proactive stance in reporting and monitoring the correction of defects
Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.
Required qualifications, skills, behaviors and attributes
Civil or Structural Engineering Qualification, minimum of an HNC/HND, preferably BEng or higher.
CSCS Card & SMSTS or SSSTS
Thorough understanding and application of the CDM Regulations 2015.
Team player
Good communicator
Relevant experience of SCL construction
Appreciation of the practical application of interfacing with rail systems and others
Relevant CSCS card
Good understanding of SCL inspection requirements either by experience in the field or by undertaking SCL design and
verification activities.
Ability to influence at the face; promoting best practice and early identification of bad practice.
Experience within quality inspection / verification role on a tunnelling project.
Experience ensuring that works on site are carried out in line with the inspection and test plans and design drawings
and that during progress and on completion they have been constructed in line with the specification(s).
Experience communicating with delivery teams to ensure full understanding of quality assurance requirements.
Experience acting as arbiter between all parties on any quality related issues, without compromising quality.
Good knowledge and practical experience of working to Health and Safety in Tunnelling BS6164.
