Role: Senior Developer

Role Description
As a Senior Developer in the Modelling and Economics (TAME) team, you will lead the development and maintenance of web products, including leading the development and maintenance of our website, and development and deployment of our visualisation dashboards.
Practically, you will be required to lead and direct the delivery of scripts, software, web
services and web development, facilitating the provision of data, analytics and
assurance services, as set out within your role profile below.
This role represents a unique opportunity to lead the development of scalable, publicly
visible technical products: including the website, which is one of the principal ways
we engage with our partners, stakeholders and the public.
As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to collaborate with others to
deliver successful outcomes and will contribute to the improvement of existing
processes and procedures. This will also involve technical and project management to
work with colleagues to deliver innovative solutions on robust timelines.
The TAME team works closely with our strategy and policy makers in the North to
analyse and appraise the most appropriate interventions in our future investment
portfolio. This includes developing new and innovative methods to deliver robust
evidence through web solutions.
Key Skills
Strong track record of designing scripts, software and web services; experience with any wireframing software (preferably including experience of Microsoft Azure).
Significant knowledge/experience and familiarity with the development of static and dynamic web service front ends, such as visualisations backed by complex datasets, static webpages and interactive GIS models, with understanding of web-centric languages like JavaScript, Python and PHP.
Proven track record of successfully building and managing websites and relevant coding experience.
Ability and confidence to represent the client in public, professional and stakeholder forums.
Ability to interpret complex data using specialist software, programmes, tools and techniques
Experience in successfully planning and managing projects, programmes of work and of prioritising workload.
Experience of preparing clear and concise reports and code documentation.
Effective communications with clients/users of scripts, software, web services and analytical outputs.
Demonstrated effectiveness in managing complex working relationships with internal/external stakeholders (such as agency partners), including at a strategic level.
Sufficient technical expertise to contribute to longer-term service planning
