Role Description:

The Technical Consultant will work within the Delivery environment, organising and overseeing all customer-based IT implementations. They will develop quality processes and installation documentation to meet customer and business requirements. Additionally, they will manage all customer-based IT activities within the Service environment, developing processes to resolve incidents and problems in line with Service Level Agreements.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project managers to plan activities for oneself and the team.
  • Provide consultancy for pre-sales requirements.
  • Complete customer-based IT implementation projects in various environments (On-premises, Cloud, Hosted).
  • Manage and oversee customer-based IT activities, including:
  • Network infrastructure issues (design and configuration)
  • Hardware platform issues (SAN/Cluster configuration)
  • General infrastructure issues (networking, backups, VMWare/Hyper-V, OS issues, Azure)
  • Consult with internal teams on site-related technical issues and incidents.
  • Ensure technical documentation is completed and updated for internal teams and customers.
  • Maintain and update quality documentation as required.
  • Train clients and staff members as needed.
  • Participate in an on-call rota in both standard and escalatory roles.
  • Travel and work away from home occasionally.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with Azure ADO for software deployment via pipelines, with strong scripting skills in YAML and PowerShell.
  • Expertise in software deployment automation (both off-the-shelf and bespoke) using automation tools, primarily on Wintel (Linux skills are a plus).
  • Ability to analyse and diagnose infrastructure-related issues (Networking, Storage, Vitalisation, Connectivity, Web services, Windows Server, AD, AV, Security, Azure).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in producing technical documentation (Training guides, HLD, LLD, Diagrams, DR plans).
  • Ability to provide escalatory support via service desk escalation for customers and support internal departments and pre-sales inquiries.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified Software Engineer qualifications (or equivalent) is desirable.
