Orion Group is currently recruiting a Quality Engineer on behalf of our rapidly growing manufacturing client. Serving global markets through OEM partnerships, direct field sales, and distribution channels, our client is looking for a flexible and motivated individual to join their dynamic team at their Alness facility and support their continued growth.

The Quality Engineerrole will require a hands-on approach to work directly with the team under minimal supervision to contribute to the continual improvement of existing products and processes. Conduct investigations, root cause analysis and report conclusions and recommendations.The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a continuous improvement mindset, ensuring projects and investigations are completed effectively and on time.

Job Functions include but are not limited to:
  • Utilise Lean Six Sigma methodology to define process capability, monitor and improve quality.
  • Support in the areas of root cause analysis and corrective action (CAPA) for product, process problems.
  • Maintain QEHS metrics including right first time (RFT) and customer complaints (CC).
  • Communicate with customers to clarify any product questions.
  • Log and investigate customer complaints, work with the team and customers to identify root cause and implement appropriate corrective actions to prevent re occurrence.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of management system documentation.
  • Work with the team to support the smooth transition of new product introduction (NPI).
  • Lead quality projects, as required.
  • Support with regulatory compliance administration.
  • Conduct internal audits, 6S audits and risk assessments.
  • Any other duties as business requirements dictate.

Education & Experience:
  • Relevant degree or equivalent training/experience.
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment.
Candidate Attributes:
  • Proficient in Lean Six Sigma methodology and reporting.
  • Strong engineering problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of ISO 9001 or similar quality standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with a professional demeanor.
  • Hands-on approach to troubleshooting in a manufacturing setting.
  • Project management experience with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Independent and team-oriented with high accountability.
Skills:
  • 2+ years in Quality Assurance.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Strong problem-solving, organisation, and workload management skills.
  • Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with accurate record-keeping.
  • Skilled inconcisereport writing with clear conclusions/recommendations.
  • Internal auditor certification.
  • Experience with Minitab (preferred).
