Brightwork is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manufacturing Manager to join our client's team in Alness.

A full time, permanent role. This role is integral to optimizing and overseeing the production processes within the manufacturing department, specifically focusing on the management of by-product processes including packing and freezing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Production Processes: Manage raw material handling from primary processing through secondary stages, ensuring efficient and accurate recording and tracking through manufacturing systems.
  • Support Manufacturing Lead: Assist in managing production areas and shifts, aligning with budgeted labour, efficiency, and raw material standards while maintaining top-quality products and customer service.
  • Lead and Develop Team: Coach and develop team members, including Production Operatives and agency personnel, promoting a high-quality service aligned with the company's vision and values.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety, food safety, and quality regulations. Manage shift operations within the Safety, Quality, People, Delivery & Cost (SQPDC) framework.
  • Stock Management: Maintain detailed stock control and reporting across multiple locations, ensuring traceability and accuracy.
  • Budget Management: Monitor and manage spending related to cold storage, transportation of frozen stock, and by-product revenue generation.
  • Customer and Auditor Interfacing: Engage with external customers and auditors during factory audits, visits, and pre-production launches.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote lean manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives focusing on quality and customer delivery.

Key Duties:

  • Collaborate effectively with the Manufacturing Lead, stepping in during their absence.
  • Plan and allocate resources, equipment, and materials to meet production goals efficiently.
  • Conduct daily briefings, manage headcount, and handle holiday and absence planning.
  • Uphold departmental discipline and ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Conduct probation reviews, develop and maintain skills matrices, and ensure key production skills are covered through training.
  • Lead and communicate with the team professionally, maintaining transparency and consistency.
  • Support recruitment, disciplinary actions, and grievance hearings as needed.
  • Contribute to partner development and succession planning within the company.
  • Ensure effective induction and training for new partners, focusing on Health & Safety and hygiene.
  • Promote and demonstrate the company's values through leadership and daily activities.
