Job Title: Welding Engineer
Location: Alness
Job Purpose
To provide technical support to the Technical Department, Operations, and Project Teams.
Key Accountabilities
QHSES (Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental & Security)
* Ensure that health, safety, security, and environmental requirements are met in all activities.
* Provide a safe and healthy working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.
* Ensure safe working practices, use of appropriate tools, and protection of the environment.
Activities/Operations
* Comply with Health & Safety regulations and client's corporate policies.
* Comply with Company Management Procedures.
* Manage documentation related to weld procedure specifications, qualifications, welder qualifications, and welding consumables test certification.
* Attend regular operations meetings, safety meetings, and other ad hoc meetings as required.
* Review welding specifications at bid stages.
* Continuously review and improve welding techniques/procedures to ensure effective service for clients.
* Manage project welding procedure qualifications for all client facilities.
* Prepare Weld Procedure Qualification documentation and welding manuals.
* Perform ad hoc welding inspection duties.
* Monitor production welding activities and troubleshoot any issues.
* Evaluate causes of welding failures and implement corrective actions where possible.
* Ensure welder qualification tests comply with code requirements and contract specifications.
* Maintain weld procedure registers and welder qualification registers.
* Inspect storage facilities and control welding consumables in conjunction with the Welding Supervisor.
* Maintain minimum stock levels of all welding consumables to meet contract production requirements.
* Ensure Risk Assessments are conducted for specific welding processes/method statements.
* Liaise with other departmental managers and subcontractor representatives to ensure safe, quality, and efficient welding practices.
* Raise non-conformances with the HSEQ Department to improve working methods.
* Provide feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Education:
* HNC in Fabrication, Welding, and Inspection or equivalent as a minimum.
Experience & Knowledge:
* Knowledge of automatic and/or manual welding of pipelines, welding engineering, or metallurgical experience/background.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in welding engineering in a fabrication environment.
* Working knowledge of various NDE techniques.
Core Competencies, Skills, and Aptitudes:
* Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
* Numeracy.
* IT literate.
* Ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
* Good technical, oral, and written communication.
* Up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments in welding engineering.
