Reed Finance are seeking a Financial Controller to work with an Alton based company.
This is a senior management position, where you will be spending a significant amount of time Business Partnering and liaising with clients, staff and partners.
The role will be predominantly office based, in Alton. Although there can be the occasional work from home allowance.
Looking for someone with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Who can represent the company as well as provide the level of Financial Management required.
The position requires someone with solid experience at Finance Manager, Financial Controller level. Ideally (ACA,ACCA ) qualified.
With at least 7 years experience in accounting , ideally with a practice background.
Responsibilities:
• Overall management responsibility for the finance function.
• Manage and supervise a staff to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality work output.
• Production of monthly management accounts, KPI's and other financial reports.
• Provide monthly billing targets to Managers.
• Provide weekly cashflow forecasts to Partners.
• Prepare the annual budget for Partner review and input.
• Maintain intercompany reconciliations for 3 entities.
• Compliance with the ICAEW and other regulatory requirements.
• Provide supporting information for insurance renewals.
• Maintain an overview of the sales ledger including credit control.
• Maintain an overview of the purchase ledger including invoice authorisations and supplier
statement reconciliation.
• First sign off for monthly supplier payments.
• Ensure client accounts are kept in line with client money regulations.
• Expenses and disbursement management for the firm.
• Preparation and submission of monthly Payroll including Pension administration.
• Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns.
• Continued development of internal systems and the practice database.
• Support with ad hoc projects and the continued growth of the business
Desired Attributes:
• ACCA/ ACA qualification or QBE (Minimum 7 years of experience in accounting, with a focus
on general practice management).
• Previous managerial/supervisory experience.
• Proactive and organised to ensure all deadlines are met.
• Full understanding of accountancy practice measures including the interaction between
charge out rates, sales, WIP, write offs and bad debts.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Desired but not essential:
• Intermediate Microsoft excel skills e.g. Xlookup, Pivot tables, graphing.
• Experience using IRIS software for practice management reporting.
• Experience with Xero, Dext, Fathom or ApprovalMax software.
