Shipping Manager

Hampshire based commutable from Guildford, Winchester, Petersfield, Basingstoke

This role will be office-based Monday to Friday 09:00 18:00

£60,000 80,000 + benefits including 27 days holiday + Bank Holidays, private medical insurance

The Organisation: International food commodities trading and import business. UK-based, this well-established, successful and growing company provides full logistics support to its clients globally including customs clearance, delivery and foreign exchange services where required.

The Role: Managing a dedicated team of shipping professionals, youll oversee daily shipping and distribution operations ensuring customer satisfaction and on time execution/ delivery.

Main Duties:

  • Oversee Shipping Operations: Manage all aspects of the shipping process, from order placement to final delivery across a variety of markets.
  • Supplier and Customer Relations: Build strong relationships with suppliers and customers to ensure timely and accurate communication.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high quality standards and implement quality control measures.
  • Cost Management: Optimize shipping costs and identify opportunities for savings.
  • Documentation: Manage all necessary documentation including Bills of Lading, Shipping Invoices, Packing Lists, Customs Declarations, Letters of Credit where required.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, including customs and import/export laws.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of shipping professionals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements and implement innovative solutions.

What You'll Need:

  • Proven track record in managing shipping operations, gained in a commodities trading environment preferably food
  • Deep knowledge of commodities shipping procedures
  • Previous experience of successfully managing a team
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in relevant software and systems, and a high level of IT literacy
  • Commercially-focused
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
