Management Accountant

About the Role
My client, a thriving organisation based in Altrincham, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Management Accountant to join their finance team. This is a newly created role, offering the opportunity to play a key part in the financial management and reporting for a dynamic business. Reporting directly to the Finance & HR Director, this hands-on role is varied and challenging, providing a great opportunity for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and associated activities.
  • Prepare reconciliations, including Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to assist in budget financial preparation.
  • Report financial information to the Group for consolidation.
  • Assist in audits for the company.
  • Recommend improvements to control processes.
  • Ensure effective cash flow management and safeguard reserves.
  • Approve weekly payments through the banking system.
  • Champion the introduction of new financial policies aligned with Group requirements.
  • Provide ad hoc assistance on finance improvement projects across the wider business.
  • Oversee line management responsibilities for Accounts Assistants.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in a finance team with strong understanding of P&L accounts.
  • Advanced Excel skills (including formulae such as IF, COUNTIF, SUMIF, VLOOKUP).
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high level of organisation.
  • Ability to manage a dynamic workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with an approachable manner.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience using Sage 200 Professional.
  • Actively working towards a finance qualification (AAT, CIMA, ACCA).
