Head Chef

Location: Altrincham, Greater Manchester

Pay: 16 per hour

About the Role:
As a Head Chef, you will be integral in delivering nutritious, well-balanced meals to residents while maintaining the highest standard of culinary excellence. Your responsibilities will include managing the kitchen staff, overseeing food preparation, menu planning, and ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. You will also foster a positive dining experience for residents, accommodating special dietary requirements. Additionally, you will play a vital role in training staff, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards, and maintaining a clean, well-organised kitchen environment.

Reports to: Home Manager

Skills and Attributes:
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a similar setting.
  • Culinary Expertise: Culinary degree or relevant certification.
  • Nutrition Knowledge: Understanding of nutrition, dietary needs, and food safety regulations.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments within the care home.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and perform well under pressure.
  • Health & Safety: Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Training: Ability to train and supervise kitchen staff.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Preferred: NVQ Level 3 in Catering or an equivalent qualification.
