Job description
A known school in Altrincham are currently looking for an experienced SEMH Teaching assistant to work 1-1 with a young pupil who struggles with the transition from asmall to a large group of pupils. This pupil has been diagnosed with ADHD an suffers from mild autism and comes from a challenging family background.
This young student presents issues that could be considered social, emotional and mental health issues therefore requires specialist attention, therefore the candidate MUST BE experience with SEMH pupils whether that be in a personal or professional setting, either way the candidate must be able to demonstrate and explain their experiences, challenges they have faced and how they overcame them ,as this role will be very labour intensive and would be need to be physically fit.
The successful candidate will be part of developing a secure and comfortable learning environment for this pupil, build relationships with children and have a passion for supporting children in their education.
The school is in the Altrincham area and easily accessible by public transport or car, and prides itself on welcoming all staff members whether full time or agency and has a family feel to it.
The candidate must have:
. Level 2 qualified
. Experience as an SEN / SEMH Teaching assistant as a minimum.
. An ability to deal with conflict with SEN /SEMH pupils and have proven techniques to deescalate situations.
. Experience working 1-1 with SEN pupils or small group experience.
. Empathetic
. Understand the pupils with SEMH complex needs.
. Right to work in the UK
. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
. Two years of references.
