Data Lead

The Data Lead will build and lead the organisations data engineering capability, ensuring a scalable, cost-effective platform that supports the company's ambition to be data-led. Initially, the role will focus on transforming the existing data warehouse into a GCP based analytics platform, integrating system and client APIs, and preparing for AI/ML adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to optimise data usage.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise data infrastructure for performance and cost.
- Ensure data security, compliance, and proper documentation.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.

Role Requirements
- Proven experience in data engineering.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with database management systems.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP Preferred).
- Experience with API development, CI/CD, and workflow management tools.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Reporting & Working Style
- Reports to the Head of Data and Analytics.
- Hybrid role with remote work and occasional UK site visits (2-3 days per week).
- Responsible for delivering a strategic data roadmap and ensuring smooth IT integration.
