Role Overview

We're seeking an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer to join our client's facilities team. This isn't just any technical role – you'll be the go-to expert for maintaining optimal working conditions across our prestigious facilities in Cambridgeshire, directly impacting the comfort and productivity of hundreds of professionals daily.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Operations

  • Lead the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of complex HVAC systems
  • Perform comprehensive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on various air conditioning units
  • Execute advanced troubleshooting on sophisticated building services systems
  • Manage and optimise Building Management Systems (BMS) for maximum efficiency
  • Conduct detailed environmental analysis to resolve temperature control issues
  • Install and upgrade HVAC components to improve system performance

Mechanical Maintenance

  • Perform specialist maintenance on critical components including:
    • Drive belts and pulleys
    • Motors and fan units
    • Control valves and actuators
    • Refrigeration circuits
    • Air handling units
    • Execute precision calibration of control systems
    • Conduct efficiency assessments and implement improvements

Project Management

  • Plan and execute minor installation projects
  • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers
  • Manage parts inventory and procurement
  • Document all maintenance activities and system modifications
  • Create detailed technical reports and maintenance logs

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide expert technical consultation to facility managers
  • Deliver clear explanations of complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other maintenance teams to ensure seamless operation
  • Respond professionally to emergency callouts and urgent maintenance requests

Essential Qualifications & Skills

Technical Certifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Air Conditioning (or equivalent)
  • F-GAS 2079 Category 1 Certification
  • Working at Heights Certification
  • MEWP Operating License

Technical Expertise

  • Proven experience in commercial HVAC systems
  • Strong understanding of building services infrastructure
  • Proficiency with modern BMS systems
  • Experience with CAFM systems and digital maintenance management
