Our client is a rapidly growing retailer with over 170 stores in the UK and a growing Online, Concessions and International business. They have ambitious plans for further growth across both the UK & International markets, and are well known for their customer centric approach, ethics, and fantastic range of innovative products.

They are now looking for a Space Planning Manager to cover a period of MAT leave, likely to be nine to twelve months. The Space Planning Manager will play a key role in optimising the use of store spaces to drive sales growth and profitability across Stores, concession partners and franchisees. Your primary responsibility will be to create innovative and efficient layouts that maximise space, ensuring that all available floor space is used to its full potential. Reporting to the Head of Merchandising, you will be tasked with developing and implementing strategic space planning solutions that align with our merchandising goals and support overall business objectives.

To succeed in this role, you will need strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret complex data, and the capacity to make informed decisions that positively impact the company’s performance. Additionally, regular travel to store locations will be required to assess layouts and to review space planning strategies. 

Space Planning Manager – Responsibilities

- Provide detailed merchandising analysis to support category planning and initiatives.

- Develop clear and concise space planning documents that reflect merchandising strategies and category details.

- Leverage category planning software and internal systems to optimise space productivity.

- Act as a trusted advisor by delivering space productivity insights that align with merchandising goals.

- Implement customer-focused merchandising strategies through advanced data analysis.

- Work with other departments to identify opportunities for improving space use and productivity.

- Proactively address challenges and mitigate risks to enhance store performance.

- Build strong relationships with vendors that align with corporate goals.

- Stay ahead of emerging trends and adapt strategies to evolving business needs.

- Foster inclusivity, respect, and adherence to company policies in all team interactions.

Space Planning Manager – Required Skills

- At least 4 years of experience in retail store planning, visual merchandising, or related fields.

- Experience working with a variety of product categories.

- Proficient in JDA Intactix, and or other space planning software.

- Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

- Ability to manage, lead, and develop a team effectively.

- Full and valid UK driving license.
