We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join, and support, our well established and successful staff team.

This role is ideal for those who have a genuine passion for helping children and young people, with a wide range of special educational needs, and also a fantastic opportunity for those considering a career in teaching to gain valuable first-hand experience. The successful candidate will receive full support and training in this role.

We are a successful 38-week residential school, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, for young people, aged 11 – 19, with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder, typically, high functioning and/or with associated disorders.

The school currently has 35 students on roll; however, this will increase over the next three years as the school embarks on an exciting period of growth.

We offer a broad and balanced, challenging and relevant curriculum rooted in the National Curriculum, delivered by an experienced and dedicated staff team.  Our aim is to fully prepare our students for successful lives beyond School.

The main focus of this role will be to:

  • Support students in lessons
  • Assist the teacher in the preparation of work, resources and equipment for the lessons
  • Support students during on and off-site activities as appropriate
  • Complete require paperwork to record observations and interventions.

What are we looking for in you?

  • Previous experience of working with young people in a classroom environment would be desirable, but not essential as training will be given.
  • You will be educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in literacy and numeracy[TK1] .
  • You will be committed to personal learning and development, and have a sincere commitment to sharing our long-term aims and drive for continuous improvement. In return, we will offer you a professional and supportive team and a genuine opportunity to develop.
