Owing to growth and promotion, we’re looking for a Finance Manager to support the running of the UK finance function. This is a great opportunity for someone either making their first move from practice into industry, or someone who’s got experience working for an SME business.

In this critical role, you will be responsible for the integrity of the balance sheet, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and overseeing the day-to-day financial accounting operations. You will play a key role in driving financial decision-making, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and optimizing our financial performance.

Finance Manager – The Role

  • Balance Sheet Management & Compliance
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's balance sheet
  • Oversee compliance with all relevant accounting
  • Prepare and file all necessary statutory accounts and returns with Companies House and other relevant authorities
  • Advise on and implement appropriate internal controls to mitigate financial risks
  • Maintain strong relationships with external auditors
  • Financial Accounting & Reporting
  • Oversee the day-to-day financial accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes
  • Prepare and analyse monthly and quarterly financial reports for management review
  • Assist the Head of Finance in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial models
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance.
  • Manage and mentor a team of one bookkeeper, including performance reviews, training, and development
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure efficient workflow
  • Maintain and improve existing financial systems and processes
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of all financial transactions

Finance Manager – The Person

  • Must have strong balance sheet exposure, whether from industry or practice
  • An empathetic and inspiring people leader
  • Prior experience working with or for an SME is advantageous
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • High attention to detail

Finance Manager – The Package

  • Salary £50-60,000 plus bonus
  • Hybrid working – 2-3 office days
