Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer from an Agricultural / Plant/ Vehicle design background looking to join a passionate R&D team in a varied and technically interesting role?
On offer is a rare opportunity to work on exciting agricultural projects from conception through to completion as part of a small & extremely passionate design team. In this role you will be a key player in the development of new and existing design projects whilst becoming a technical expert on an extensive and continually expanding product line.
This fantastic company specialise in the design, development and supply of special purpose & bespoke agricultural machinery and associated parts. They have a loyal client base due to their exceptional product lines and levels of service & are market leaders in their field. Due to an exceptionally busy and continually developing workload they are now looking to bring in an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a real drive for technical excellence and industry expertise to their successful R&D design team.
In this broad and interesting role you see projects through from conception to completion and you will be involved throughout the process to ensure your designs come to life as you envisage.

The Role:
- Product development including brainstorming and concept development, 3D modelling of concepts using SolidWorks CAD software.
- FEA analysis of CAD to determine mechanical stability of the design and identify potential failures.
- Contribute to all phases of the design process from "cradle to the grave" following a stage gate style procedure.
- Creation of detailed 2D drawings to be used by in-house and external fabricators.
- Project manage several projects and tasks in a busy environment at any one time.
- On site trial work, evaluation and testing of prototypes.
- Adhere to BSI quality standard requirements for machinery design.
- To assist the Purchasing and Procurement of products and parts with engineering and technical support.
- Work closely with the production line to identify issues, areas of improvements to streamline the build process and find solutions to keep the line moving.
- Liaise with external customers and suppliers in the development of machines and specialist solutions.
The Person:
- Candidates looking for a technically interesting role who have worked within engineering sectors serving agriculture, horticulture, plant or off-road vehicle engineering are most ideally suited to this role.
- Project management skills with proven working experience in NPD for medium and high value work.
- Experience in sheet metal design, welding techniques and fabrication would be a distinct advantage.
- Excellent 3D CAD skills (preferably SolidWorks).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Highly motivated with strong problem-solving skills & high level of attention to detail & a "can-do" approach
