Payroll Assistant

Join our team as a Payroll Assistant, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. This role is crucial for managing our subcontractors' payroll and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. You will be part of a dynamic team, contributing to the financial operations within a successful group of companies.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage fortnightly subcontractors' payroll for two entities within the Group.
  • Handle daily timesheets, liaise with site for payroll information, query discrepancies, process payslips with strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Manage external subcontractor payroll as required.
  • Assist with new subcontractor onboarding by recording payroll profiles.
  • Ensure all documentation for new hires is compliant, with quarterly full compliance checks.
  • Draft and issue contractual notifications and correspondence.
  • Collaborate closely with the Finance Assistant and Finance Manager to assist with annual leave/sickness cover.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as requested by the Finance Manager and Group Head of Finance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 months experience in a payroll assistant role.
  • A proactive 'can do' attitude and a desire to grow and develop within the company.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, changing environment.
  • Knowledge of auto-enrolment and proficiency with SAGE 50 Payroll are extremely beneficial.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
  • Essential experience with SAGE 50.
  • Basic knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
  • High level of accuracy and good communication skills.
  • Ability to start immediately.
