The client are a leading provider of standby power solutions, uninterrupted power supply systems, and combined heat and power solutions in the UK.

Position: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Main Office (South UK)
Start Date: Q4 2024

Working Hours: 39.5 hours per week
Salary Range: £40,000 to £48,000

Role Overview:

This role is based mainly at our main office in South UK, where you will be part of the Commercial team, reporting directly to the Commercial Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high standard of service to both internal and external stakeholders. Occasional travel to various project sites within the UK will be required to attend meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and agreeing on client-issued subcontracts and project programs in collaboration with the operations team.
  • Evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids and submissions.
  • Managing the placement of subcontracts and procurement orders.
  • Issuing notices such as early warnings, extensions of time, and other contractual documents throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Preparing, submitting, and agreeing on variations.
  • Managing cash value reconciliations and final account agreements.
  • Overseeing retentions and ensuring their correct release.
  • Attending client meetings, such as project technical meetings.
  • Visiting project sites as needed.
  • Gathering commercial feedback and market trends, and sharing insights with relevant departments.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Core Competencies: Determination, attention to detail, humility, conscientiousness, and emotional intelligence.
  • Functional Competencies: Strong commercial awareness, negotiation skills, ability to apply professional knowledge effectively, and attention to detail.
  • Key Skills: Detail-oriented, solution-focused, self-motivated, strong IT skills, and excellent verbal and written communication.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Essential:
    • Recognized qualification in Quantity Surveying.
    • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
    • Strong knowledge of commercial contracts.
    • Solid understanding of financial aspects such as cash flows, budgets, gross profit, and profit and loss.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience using SAP software.
    • Background in the construction or M&E sectors.
