Reed Education Southampton are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Head of Department: Art and Photography Teacher to fulfil a permanent, full-time position starting Easter 2025 (ideally ASAP).

The school are a popular secondary with a great reputation within the local community, boasting fantastic facilities such as a recently refurbished library and gymnasium, animal management area and expansive grounds. They have recently invested in the growth of the school grounds, creating an expansion building made up of state-of-the-art Science labs and classrooms, as well as recently opening their renovated Inclusion Space which holds bespoke classrooms and breakout spaces for nurture and SEND students within the school.

As the Head of the Department, you will be an experienced teacher of Art and Photography and hold Qualified Teacher Status in the UK. You will be responsible for the management of the department made up of two other teachers, and aim to put 'your own stamp' on Art and Photography, making it completely your own. Art and Photography are a thriving and popular subject at GCSE with a minimum of two classes in each subject at KS4! You will also have access to two specialist art rooms, green screens, smoke machines and a full set of XLR cameras, with the potential of school trips to Kenya, Barcelona and New York!

The school is made up of vibrant and collaborative staff members who regularly partake in group exercises such as well-being activities and collective travels to the local pub on a Friday!

For this role, you will:- Hold QTS in the UK- Have experience teaching Art and Photography in the UK- Be able to put your own stamp on the Art and Photography curriculum, building and creating opportunities to experiment and develop skills in all areas- Be passionate about your subject, and be open to collaborating with your colleagues at the school

The salary for this role is currently set at MPR/UPR with TLR2b (£31650-49084 + £8279 TLR).
