A dynamic and forward-thinking engineering business is seeking a talented VAT Consultant to join their team, they are seeking someone who is not only technically strong but also thrives on problem-solving and improving VAT processes.

The Role:


This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on VAT professional who enjoys getting into the detail but also sees the bigger picture. You’ll be a key player in diagnosing VAT issues, developing workable solutions, and improving compliance and efficiency across the VAT function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on a wide range of complex VAT matters across various sectors.

  • Lead on resolving technical VAT issues and disputes, including liaising with HMRC where necessary.

  • Review and improve existing VAT processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

  • Work closely with finance, legal, and operational teams to implement VAT solutions that are practical and sustainable.

  • Keep up to date with changes in VAT legislation and proactively advise the business or clients.

  • Deliver training and support to internal teams and stakeholders on VAT best practices.

About You:

  • Strong, hands-on VAT experience, ideally from a consulting or in-house advisory background.

  • Proven track record of handling complex VAT issues and delivering practical solutions.

  • Comfortable balancing technical detail with commercial understanding.

  • Process-driven mindset with the ability to identify and implement improvements.

  • Excellent communication skills—able to explain VAT issues clearly to non-specialists.

  • ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent qualification preferred but not essential.

Please note: This role is offered on an inital 2 year Fixed Term Contract, with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote
