We are seeking a Senior Engineer for the Northern Region - Operations at our headquarters in Enniskillen. This role is integral to the Regional Management Team, focusing on the management and maintenance of infrastructure. The successful candidate will oversee operations within the Erne System and potentially other areas, ensuring the effective use of resources and the development of the waterways for increased recreational use.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the Regional Depots.
  • Engage with Operations Stores to support the development, procurement, and purchasing of goods and services.
  • Manage financial, operational staff, and waterway assets.
  • Coordinate with user groups for the facilitation of events and work in partnership with third parties to manage and develop the waterways.
  • Be part of the Emergency Response Team, providing out of office service on a rota basis, which includes separate remuneration.
Key Activities:
  • Coordinate operational staff for maintenance and construction site works, ensuring compliance with safety standards..
  • Conduct site surveys, studies, and evaluations, and manage the maintenance and construction programmes to ensure timely and quality delivery.
  • Liaise with various groups to promote community involvement and enhance recreational use of waterway amenities.
  • Manage navigation and land property use, implementing Byelaws as an Authorised Officer.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent, qualifying for chartered membership of a professional engineering institution (ICE / IEI).
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant post-qualification experience in civil/structural engineering projects, with at least 2 years in an operational environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and IT-based surveying/engineering design tools.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in developing technical specifications, tender documentation, and managing complex budgets.
  • Hold a current driving licence and have access to transport for supervising works across a wide area.
