Forklift Truck Operative

Our client is a leading seasonal vegetable producer based in Arnold. We are looking for a fork lift truck operative to join the team. Working a probation through Proactive Staff, successful applicants will be rewarded with a permanent contract after just 13 weeks!

• Overtime available paid at £15.18 per hour, rising to £16.68

Role Overview
As a fork lift truck operative, you will be responsible for shunting and moving fresh produce, (vegetables). You will be a team player, who is passionate about product excellence and helping all colleagues get team goals achieved. This role will be outside, in all weathers working in the yard. Previous experience using a fork lift is essential.

Key Responsibilities
• Working outside in all weather, and a desire to work long hours when required
• Physically fit
• Adherence to all health and safety, compliance and food hygiene best practice
• Ability to work on own initiative, with a “can do”, problem solving attitude
• To organise vehicle movements to ensure that the haulage needs of the business are satisfied efficiently.
• Ability to plan the movement of stock, ensuring it is correctly located and rotated regularly

Skills and experience
• Valid Counter Balance license is essential, PPT/Shunter experience beneficial
• Must be IT literate as using bespoke software and PDA/HHT (handheld terminal)
• Good communication skills, with ability to keep records
• Must be able to provide recent work references to demonstrate reliability and trustworthiness
