Full-time, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week with regular weekends away

We are a UK based charity which gets young people enthusiastic about science and engineering by challenging them to design, build and race an electric car.

We supply age appropriate Kit Cars, which can be built in school, college or elsewhere and raced at motorsport venues at organised events. Alternatively, older participants can design and build their own car to our regulations. Our clients challenge uses the excitement of motorsport to inspire young people to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math's (STEM).

  • We work with over 700 teams throughout the UK and hold 30+ regional events and an International Final every year.
  • More than 10,000 students take part each year, from primary school age through to university.

A growing number of international teams participate in our events and the USA, Iberia, and Beneluxrun programmes under the our clients license.

The Event Coordinator will hold responsibility for elements of the event organisation and administration, including planning and organisation of the non-track and on track activities; race administration; volunteer recruitment; booking accommodation, liaising with tracks and liaison with teams regarding registration and entry prior to, and during events.

They will also be required to report to and support the Events Manager and develop and manage race events ensuring each event is of a high quality and standard.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Make a positive contribution to Team meetings, and ongoing communication with the wider team regarding the events
  • Manage incidents and complaints during events so that they are effectively addressed.
  • Be a role model for young people and team members and present a positive can do attitude.
  • Commit to a culture of continuous improvement
  • To be alert to issues of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring the welfare and safety of young people is promoted and safeguarded, and to report any child protection concerns to the Designated Child Protection Officers using the safeguarding policies & procedures.
  • Represent the Greenpower positively and effectively in all dealings with internal colleagues, and external partners.
  • To assist with any promotional activities and visits that take place to promote Greenpower.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of the events & hospitality industry, particular within a motorsport setting

Skills:

  • Hold a full UK Driving License and bewillingto drive both Manual and Automatic vehicles, including vans and towing a trailer.
  • Be able to contribute to the physical aspects of the role which includes packing/unpacking of the Events Team vehicles, driving them to and from event locations around the UK and be prepared tobe on your feet for long periods of time, assist with track set up and track close at each event (moving barriers, cones and other safety equipment)
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills, a high level of organisational & administration skills and IT literate across all Microsoft applications and systems orientated, with sound working knowledge of Word, Excel and Teams.
  • This role has periods where we are away at events for several days at a time, so willingness to travel and being away from home is a key requirement for the role.

The ideal candidate will be willing to work unsociable hours when required and demonstrate a commitment to the goals and drivers behind our clients philosophy.

The successful candidate must be able to pass an enhanced DBS clearance process.
