Quality Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer. Reporting directly to the Quality and Assurance Manager. This full-time, permanent role is based at their Southeast office.

Role Overview:

As a Quality Engineer, you will be pivotal in supporting compliance with ISO 9001:2015 by ensuring robust quality management processes throughout the lifecycle of our electrical infrastructure projects. You will lead in conducting audits, advising project teams, and ensuring that both internal and external standards are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Management Support: Provide expert advice on ISO 9001:2015 to employees, contractors, and clients throughout the tendering and project phases, ensuring our quality management systems are effective in supporting design, build, finance, and operational processes.

Process Improvement: Contribute to the review and enhancement of existing quality procedures while also developing new, project-specific processes. Play a key role in the communication and implementation of these standards within the company.

Auditing & Compliance: Plan and execute project audits across various levels, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015. You'll be responsible for conducting audits, documenting findings, and working with teams to address any issues.

Project Support: Assist project managers in reviewing quality documentation and ensure the integration of lessons learned into the broader quality management framework. Support incident investigations related to the quality management system.

Supplier & Subcontractor Oversight: Ensure that suppliers and subcontractors meet our quality standards by conducting external audits and inspections. Identify areas for improvement and highlight examples of excellent performance.

Materials & Equipment Certification: Oversee site certifications and equipment compliance, ensuring that all documentation is maintained, and project requirements are met.

Third-Party Audits: Coordinate and facilitate external audits by certification bodies, ensuring that all requirements for maintaining certification are met.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

Essential:

A minimum qualification of HNC in a relevant discipline such as Quality Management, Construction, Engineering, or equivalent.
Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute at Practitioner level, with a strong desire to achieve Chartered status (support will be provided).
Proven experience in quality management systems within the construction industry.
Certified QMS Auditor/Internal Auditor with practical experience auditing to ISO 9001:2015.
Strong analytical skills, particularly in root cause analysis.
A valid UK driving licence.

Desirable:

Experience with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 auditing standards.
Knowledge of additional standards such as ISO 55001 and ISO 19650 would be an advantage.
Flexible and able to prioritise work based on project needs.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across different levels within the company and with external partners.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools.
