Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer - Southern Water

Are you a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer looking to play a key role in delivering critical water infrastructure projects? Our client, a leading contractor in the water industry, is seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to work on transformative Southern Water projects, based out of Ashford, Kent.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical engineering aspects of water infrastructure projects, from concept to completion.
- Develop detailed mechanical designs and specifications, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil and electrical engineers, to deliver integrated solutions.
- Oversee the preparation of mechanical drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Review designs and provide technical guidance to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
- Support procurement activities by preparing technical specifications and evaluating supplier proposals.
- Resolve mechanical design and construction challenges, providing innovative and practical solutions.
- Ensure all work adheres to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers within the team, fostering technical excellence.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer, ideally within the water sector or a related infrastructure industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, pipelines, and treatment plant equipment.
- Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and best practices relevant to mechanical engineering.
- Experience with project delivery frameworks such as Southern Water Framework or similar is highly desirable.
- A degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (e.g., BEng, MEng).
- Proficiency in design software and tools, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
