Job Title Shift Engineer – Electrical/Mechanical

Days and Hours (Alternating shift patterns, week to week)

Monday to Friday 6.00am to 2.00pm then the following week 2.00pm to 10.00pm

Contract Personnel Norwich are recruiting on behalf of their client based in Ashford, Kent who are looking to hire a Warehouse Operations & Inventory Manager to join their well-established team on a permanent basis.

You will be responsible for the reactive & preventative repair and maintenance to all onsite plant and equipment to ensure the safe efficient operation. Areas include Packing Hall productions lines, Dry & Cold Stores, Site Facilities including Cooling Tower & production wastewater plant. To provide cover over multiple shift patterns as required.

Main responsibilities:

• Can do attitude – leads by example and takes a hands-on approach.

• Ensure there is a close working relationship with Shift Managers and Machine Operators

• Motivate teams and individuals to improve line performance.

• Support Engineering Manager to deal proactively with issues.

• Drive through continuous improvement.

• Be proactive in helping operations find solution to problems

• Excellent communication on engineering matters to all departments.

• Regular updates to shift managers online performance issues.

• Achieve factory KPI’s.

• Ensure the Factory is working efficiently.

• See opportunities for creative problem solving while staying in the parameters of good practice.

• Drive costs down wherever possible.

• Make best use of available time and resources.

• Implement preventative maintenance.

• Constantly strive to increase operational performance.

• Optimize factory efficiency.

• Maximize equipment uptime.

•Develop methods to encourage continual attention to safe working practices.

• Improve employee awareness of health, safety, and best practice.

• Personally comply with all policies, procedures, and risk assessments relevant to role and responsibilities.

Your experience/qualities will include:

• 4-year engineering apprenticeship (mechanical /electrical or equivalent) or City and guild Engineering diploma level 3 or NVQ level 3 in Engineering Maintenance as a minimum.

• 17th / 18th BS 7671 Electrical wiring regulations qualification essential.

• 5 Years Minimum experience in a similar multi skilled role.

• Fault finding experience on PLC, s / Scada / Power & Control circuits / Pneumatics / Mechanical drives & conveyor systems.

• Working experience can include being the only engineer on a shift with full responsibility for the site. • Production wastewater & cooling tower facility checks & repairs.

• Computer literate (Word / Excel etc).

• 3 years in the food or drinks industry would be strongly preferable.
