Are you an experienced Technical Operations Manager looking for a new opportunity? Do you have experience working within the Electronics, Electricity or Assembly sector? If so, we have an ideal role for you!

Our client is seeking a skilled professional to join their team in Ashford, Kent. As the Technical Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the production process, optimising assembly times, and maintaining top-quality standards.

Job title: Technical Operations Manager

Location: Ashford, Kent

Travel: To Solihull - 1-2 times a month, with an over night stay and occasional travel to France and Tunisia (a few times a year) will be required.

Salary: £55,000-£60,000 DOE

Benefits: 22 days annual leave + bank holidays

Main responsibilities:

  • Monitor the production schedule and ensure that workloads and capacity are aligned with defined objectives such as productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Collaborate with the R&D department to industrialise new products and optimise assembly times while meeting required quality levels.
  • Lead a team of managers and employees, including the Workshop Manager and R&D Manager.
  • Develop technical solutions and production tools to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce the risk of non-quality.
  • Analyse workshop activity indicators and identify opportunities for improving profitability and productivity.
  • Take charge of resolving incidents and ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Implement quality procedures and operating methods within the workshop.
  • Set up key performance indicators to monitor productivity, performance, and stock value.
  • Provide regular reports on investment needs to the Technical Director.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and products to continuously improve methods and remain competitive.

Profile/skills required:

  • Bachelor's degree to Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in a similar position in various industries such as electronics, electricity, or assembly.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and other certifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to find consensus between R&D and production.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead a team effectively.
  • Organised, autonomous, and proactive approach to work.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving tools such as 8D, PDCA, and 5W.
  • Familiarity with production management tools like Lean and 6 sigma.
