We are looking for Bolting Technicians for long term contract work at the Isle of Grain

This will be starting on Tuesday 29th April working on nights.

Ideally, we are looking for Bolting Technicians with Pressure Testing experience.

This will be working 10 days on, 4 days off.

This will be a day rate of 480 per night (during the week) and 540 per night (weekends),

You will be responsible for executing bolting tasks efficiently and safely in accordance with industry standards and project specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bolting operations including torquing, tensioning, and nut splitting take out.
  • Skilled in using various bolting tools and equipment to undertake and record; defined flange connections up to 900mm diameter pipework.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Document work activities.
  • Adhere to project schedules and deadlines.

Key Attributes for pressure testing

  • Conducting Pressure Tests: Perform pressure tests on components, pipelines, vessels, and other pressure-containing systems using established testing procedures, equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Preparing Test Equipment: Set up and calibrate pressure testing equipment, including pressure gauges, pumps, hoses, valves, and instrumentation, to ensure accuracy and reliability during testing operations.
  • Interpreting Test Specifications: Review test plans, engineering drawings, specifications, and standards to understand the testing requirements, including test pressures, durations, fluid types, and acceptance criteria.
  • Executing Test Procedures: Follow standardized test procedures and protocols to apply pressure to the test specimen gradually, monitor pressure levels continuously, and record relevant data at specified intervals throughout the testing process.
  • Monitoring Test Parameters: Monitor and control key test parameters, such as pressure, temperature, flow rate, and duration, to ensure adherence to testing standards and safety limits, adjusting test conditions as necessary.
  • Identifying Defects and Anomalies: Inspect test specimens visually and using non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, such as dye penetrant testing or ultrasonic testing, to detect leaks, defects, cracks, or other abnormalities that may compromise integrity.
  • Documenting Test Results: Record test data, observations, and any deviations from expected outcomes accurately and comprehensively in test reports, logbooks, or digital databases for documentation, analysis, and compliance purposes.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Identify and troubleshoot technical issues, equipment malfunctions, or procedural challenges encountered during testing operations, collaborating with supervisors or technical experts to resolve issues promptly.
  • Ensuring Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations, procedures, and best practices throughout the testing process, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), adherence to lockout/tagout procedures, and mitigation of hazards.
  • Maintaining Test Equipment: Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and inspection of pressure testing equipment to ensure reliability, accuracy, and compliance with quality standards, reporting any maintenance needs or deficiencies to supervisors.

Requirements

  • 3 years experience as a Bolting Technician ideally with Pressure Testing experience
  • Valid MJI10, MJI18, MJI19
  • CCNSG Safety Passport.
  • Strong understanding of bolting techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to bolting operations and working within strategic live gas facilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks.
  • Flexibility to work away as required.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
