To help us get the best out of these opportunities we are looking commercially astute Finance Controller who can rapidly transition into the role of a hands on FD.

Job Description:

As a finance controller, you will be a key part of the SMT reporting to the business unit MD and working closely with the Group FD. Familiar with a business undergoing significant growth and change you will be the voice of reason, rooted in the logic of numbers to support business decision making and risk analysis. A familiarity with Xero accounting software and Dear ERP systems would be a distinct advantage.

The candidate will be an experienced finance controller with strong analytical skills and a passion for working and analysing date to provide insightful management information. They will have excellent communication skills, be team-player but be able to take a strong leadership role and challenge all aspects of the business to ensure our growth and innovation is sustainable. They will be working alongside an ambitious Management Team and will have an opportunity to add value to this rapidly growing business so the ability to quickly establish rapport and build successful working relationships is essential.

Qualified through a recognised accountancy body (i.e. ACA, ACCA or CIMA) this hands on role will require a friendly, down to earth and approachable style moving the SMP forward by adding to our are already great working culture. Their ability to take ownership and deliver with a can do attitude will be key.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Responsible for producing monthly management accounts

Present monthly management accounts can communicate financial performance to stakeholders at all levels

Ensure the companys cash is managed effectively ensuring that key suppliers relationships are maintained and that returns on cash balances are maximised without jeopardising the companys ability to meet all its liabilities when they fall due.

Oversee the Companys short-term cash flow and prepare medium and long-term forecasts

Maintain a system of rolling forecasts to predict profitability and cashflow identifying improvements to make to the process or the model itself to make the process more efficient and robust.

Assist in building a finance strategy and long-term business plan in preparation for the annual budgeting and forecast process

Liaise closely with Group FD and external advisors including auditors, HR and lawyers.

Work with all business stakeholders to identify additional reporting and KPIs that would benefit the company.

BOM Costings and stock valuation and controls

Manage the Purchase and Sales ledger

Manage the credit control function, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.

Alongside the Group FD ensure submission to HMRC for PAYE, VAT and Pensions are done in a timely and efficient manner.

Liaise with external bodies for the monthly payroll, including the handling of standard payroll, overtime, holidays, bonuses, commissions and any other adjustment required to ensure that all employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.

Make proactive recommendations wherever appropriate to improve systems and controls or make costs savings or improve efficiency.

Contribute to the companys overall business objectives and guide on financial strategy

Access, manage and minimize risk.

Actively contribute to the Management Team on company-wide challenges and issues.

Working Hours & Location

Youll be scheduled to work 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 1pm on Friday and you should be more than willing to put in extra time when there are projects ongoing or deadlines to be met.

The role will be office based but with some opportunity for WFH.
