Reed FE are working on behalf of a College in Sunderland who are seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant to join their team. The role involves providing high-quality service to both students and staff at their on-Campus Café and other outlets. The ideal candidate will be flexible, possess a friendly disposition, and have a smart appearance. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential. Previous experience in a catering or café environment and cash handling is advantageous.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Preparing and serving a range of hot and cold food to staff and students.
  • Cleaning equipment and preparing surfaces within kitchens or food outlets.
  • Maintaining equipment in a safe and hygienic condition.
  • Assisting with the preparation and receipt of orders, and ensuring safe storage post-delivery.
  • Clearing away and washing crockery and utensils in the kitchens.
  • Assisting staff and students and providing customer-oriented services.
  • Complying with Health and Safety and Food Hygiene procedures and regulations.
  • Undertaking maintenance tasks such as table clearance, emptying litter bins, sweeping floors, dishwashing, and general cleaning.
  • Filling drinks fridges and vending machines.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a catering or café environment is preferred.
  • Good customer service skills and experience dealing with the public.
  • Ability to work flexibly and willingness to work at other campuses if necessary.
  • Commitment to undertake any required training.
  • Possession of a valid food hygiene certificate or equivalent is desirable.
