If so, GSL Education has an exciting opportunity for you as an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant Primary in Ashington!

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant Primary, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with SEMH needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to work within a primary school setting and make a real impact on students’ educational journeys.

Responsibilities as a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant ( Primary):

  • Support the learning and development of pupils with SEMH needs in a primary school setting.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to help students with their academic and personal growth.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages students to thrive.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress to the class teacher and other relevant staff members.
  • Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies to ensure a calm learning environment.

As a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant ( Primary) essential requirements include the following:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting their educational and emotional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to have one processed immediately
