Composite Team Leader

Our prestigious, manufacturing client within the Marine and Luxury Yacht industry, are currently seeking a Composite Team Leader to join their team.

The Composite Team Leader is responsible for supporting the management team/ business to ensure the smooth daily running of the composite teams within the Ashmanhaugh workshop.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications required:

  • Robust Composite knowledge
  • High level of GRP Finishing knowledge
  • A full UK Driving Licence and potential scope to travel to other sites
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to motivate self and the team to keep up to date with new technologies.
  • Proven track record of motivating and developing others.
  • Ideally, experience of directing and motivating a team in a fast-paced facility.
  • NVQ Level 2 or other relevant qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Continuous professional development such as keeping up to date with new methods and technologies.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Support management and production teams to create a feasible schedule for the designated product line.
  • Work to an agreed schedule, ensuring the product line remains on time vs allocated budget hours, track progress daily against the task lists and report any deviation from the budgeted hours.
  • Control the distribution and allocation of PPE consumables and tooling.
  • Provide planning for any catch up of work. Provide feedback by completing OCR in the case of drawing issues.
  • Lead the composite team in compliance with our clients policy and procedures, predominantly in relation to Code of Conduct, H&S, Quality and Performance Management and Development.
  • Improve productivity and quality, encouraging ideas from the team as well as communicating progress of such improvements.
  • Coach junior members of the team, following up on their training and development, provide updates to the OCT management team on their progress.
  • Ensure accurate completion of documentation relating to production & quality for the product line.
  • The postholder needs to be consistent and sustained in their approach, following the company Health & Safety guidelines, being proactive in promoting the use of safe working practices and challenging non-compliance.
  • Take responsibility for overall cleanliness and organisation within your work bay. Oversee the work completed by all staff on your product line.
  • Carry out staff management, such as timesheets, holiday requests, return to work and performance & absence management.
  • Daily completion of build logs and job cards and associated documentation.
  • Ensure that all required materials, items and assets are in place for the successful build of designated product line, ensuring that purchase requisitions are completed as required.
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure all parts of the product line conform to quality standards.
  • Complete OCR and other quality related documents. Maintain and manage H&S on designated line and within the workshop.
  • Ensure designated work bay is Clean, Clear and Organized (using 5S and Lean Techniques).
