Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant in Tameside.

This is a temporary full-time long-term supply role for a teaching assistant from November 2024 until April 2025.

The Role

SEND Teaching Assistant at special needs school in Tameside

Supporting pupils with Autism, Learning Difficulties, Sensory & Communication Needs.

Working in small groups and 1:1 at times.

Teamwork with the class teacher and other Teaching Assistants.

Managing emotions and behaviour so that teacher can focus on learning.

Supporting the class teacher in the implementation and progress of Individual Education Plans.

Liaising the outside professionals and parents when required.

Reporting on progress and incidents.

While an experienced SEND teaching assistant is preferred, the school are happy to consider applications from teaching assistants with experience of working with children with SEND in mainstream primary or secondary schools.

The School

Improving Special School for children aged 5 to 14.

All pupils who attend the school have an education, health and care plan. The school caters for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

To join us and be successful in this SEND Teaching Assistant role, you will need to:

  • A minimum of 3 months recent experience of working as a teaching assistant in a UK school supported by detailed references
  • Teaching assistant qualifications would be beneficial but not essential
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
  • Provide a CV with full employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained
  • Have the legal right to work full time in the UK with no restrictions
