Project Manager – Permanent - Ashton-under-Lyne  - Joinery Subcontractor 

Are you a Project Manager or Contracts Manager ,  from a subcontracting background,  and are open to a new role on a permanent basis?


We are currently recruiting for the role of Project Manager on behalf of a joinery subcontractor, based in Ashton-under-Lyne, who are looking to add to their delivery team on a permanent basis.

The contractor has a strong balance sheet,  turned over £9.8m last year, has around 75 staff and the value of joinery packages is up to £3. 


The contractor specialises in supply and installation  of joinery packages across the north west,  working for NHS and Primary Care Trusts, Education Authorities, Private Developers & Social Housing Trusts as well as many private clients across multiple industries

Due to an increase in workload,  the contractor is looking to hire a client facing, self sufficient Project Manager to manager either multiple smaller packages or possibly one larger project at Manchester Airport.

The role would suit someone who is either a Project Manager , Contracts  Manager or even a site manager from a  subcontracting background. 

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Being the main interface between the contractor, clients, suppliers, designers and public
  • Site preparation and set up
  • Using software packages to plan and programme works
  • Forward planning to avoid problems with the delivery and storage of equipment and materials, access requirements and what design information may be needed
  • Advise on the selection of contractors and suppliers and provide feedback of overall performances.
  • Help the site team to organise themselves and identify the roles and responsibilities of client’s expectations
  • Advise / plan and control labour resource levels from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Promptly & professionally issue information and instructions.
  • Develop a project execution plan, including selection of procurement route and contracts.
  • Contribute to risk management exercises, utilise previous experiences, lessons learnt processes.
  • Contribute to cost control, project budgets and value engineering exercises
  • Contribute to design reviews & sign off procedures
  • Validation of operative’s hours and payments.
  • Oversee change control procedures, correctly documenting and maintain tracking.
  • Advise on disputes, plus mitigation.
  • Monitor and assess overall client programmes and contribute toward cost plans.
  • Report current standings to the client.
  • Managing the completion of the Joinery package and the handover to the client
