Role Overview
Responsible for leading curriculum development, ensuring high teaching and learning standards, and contributing to school leadership. Also serves as an SEMH teacher, supporting students with SEND needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Lead:
- Develop and oversee curriculum planning across all year groups.
- Support the headteacher in implementing the School Improvement Plan.
- Provide leadership in teaching and learning, mentoring staff, and enhancing curriculum policies.
- Lead aspects of behavior management and school discipline.
- Monitor teaching effectiveness and implement strategies for improvement.
- Oversee curriculum for students educated offsite (EOTAS/Outreach).
SEMH Teacher:
- Plan and deliver specialist lessons to KS3 & KS4 SEND students.
- Assess student progress, using tools like Boxall Profiles.
- Develop a bespoke, topic-based curriculum covering core subjects.
- Support students’ emotional development and social integration.
- Collaborate with external specialists (SaLT, C&I workers).
- Assist with EHCP production and review.
- Provide small-group or 1:1 intervention as needed.
Leadership & Management:
- Support teachers in implementing inclusive learning strategies.
- Oversee performance management and development of teaching staff.
- Train and mentor new teachers and university students.
- Contribute to whole-school strategic planning and policy development.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student well-being.
Requirements:
- Essential: QTS and experience in curriculum leadership. Strong knowledge of SEND strategies and safeguarding practices.
- Desirable: NPQ qualification, experience in school management, knowledge of the Independent School Standards.
