Job Description:

We seek a qualified English Literature teacher with QTS and experience teaching secondary students to join a thriving secondary school in Tameside. The role is to cover a maternity post and will start after the October half term and will run until the end of the academic year. The ideal English teacher should have a strong understanding of the UK curriculum and a passion for fostering a love for reading, writing, and critical analysis. This role will be a full time. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English Literature across various year groups, from Key Stage 3 to KS4.
  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons on various literary texts, including prose and poetry.
  • Guide students in developing critical thinking and analytical skills through literature study.
  • Prepare students for GCSE in English Literature.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven teaching experience in English Literature with a strong understanding of the UK curriculum.
  • In-depth knowledge of various literary periods, genres, and critical theories.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to different teaching environments.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
