We are currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a strong background in behaviour management to support students with additional needs in a large secondary school based in Manchester. This school is dedicated to pupils who have Special Educational Needs, including ASC, ADHD, Complex Needs, and SEMH.

Job Details:

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant (with Behaviour Management experience)
Location: Manchester
School Type: Large secondary school catering specifically for students with ASC, ADHD, Complex Needs, and SEMH
Pay: Competitive (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time/Temporary, immediate start
Training: Team Teach or equivalent de-escalation training preferred

Key Responsibilities:

Support students on a 1:1 or small group basis, helping them to access the curriculum.
Assist in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans.
Provide emotional and behavioural support to students, applying strategies to manage challenging behaviours.
Implement de-escalation techniques, ideally using Team Teach or equivalent training.
Work closely with teachers and other staff to ensure students' needs are met both academically and emotionally.
Promote social and emotional development, ensuring students' well-being is a top priority.
Encourage independence and positive behaviour both inside and outside the classroom.
Work alongside parents and carers to support students' progress.

Requirements:

Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, preferably with students who have ASC, ADHD, Complex Needs, or SEMH.
Strong behaviour management skills, with experience of de-escalation techniques.
Team Teach or equivalent de-escalation training is highly desirable.
A compassionate, holistic approach to working with young people.
Ability to promote and support students' social and emotional development as well as their academic progress.
Excellent communication skills, both with students and staff.
Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude.
