Chartered Building Surveyor - Local Authority

Job Type: 6-month temporary contract with potential for extension
Start Date: ASAP
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 (37 hours per week)
Pay Rate: 350 per day PAYE (inside IR35)
We are looking for a Chartered Building Surveyor to join a Local Authority team in Atherstone on a 6-month temporary contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, manage a diverse portfolio of work, and ensure high-quality outcomes in the public sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, schedule, and carry out detailed site, building, and stock condition surveys.
- Prepare CAD drawings, work schedules, specifications, contract/tender documentation, and quotations to ensure projects are delivered on time and within allocated budgets.
- Stay up to date with legislation, building regulations, and planning requirements, ensuring all designs and specifications comply with the CDM Regulations.
- React swiftly to structural diagnostics and building pathology issues, determining remedial works and producing detailed work specifications.
- Coordinate the preparation of drawings, tender documents, and work programmes for contracts.
- Monitor the performance and progress of minor and major works programmes, taking corrective action to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery.
Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of five years of experience in building surveying, stock investment, maintenance, and feasibility studies.
- MRICS qualification (required).
- Strong understanding of building surveying, maintenance, programming works, preparation of drawings, work schedules, and project management.
- High-level communication and negotiation skills, with a proven track record of partnership working.
- Experience in budget and financial management.
- Proficient in structural diagnostics, building pathology, and preparing specifications for remedial works.
- A valid driving license and access to a suitable vehicle for work purposes.
