Catering Assistant

Location: Coventry (CV9)

Start Date: Immediately – Registration must be completed ASAP

Salary Scale: £12.82 - £13 per hour (Depending on experience)

Working Hours: 9am to 3pm

Contract: Long term – 5 days a week.

GSL Education are seeking a Catering Assistant or Kitchen Assistant to support a dynamic and fast-paced kitchen environment of one of our client schools in Coventry/Nuneaton area. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth daily operation of the kitchen, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and assisting in food preparation and service. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a catering or kitchen setting and a strong understanding of health and safety standards in food handling.

Responsibilities of a Catering Assistant / Kitchen Assistant:

• Assisting in the preparation and serving of meals to students and staff.
• Ensuring the kitchen and dining areas are clean, organised, and meet health and safety regulations.
• Handling food storage, preparation, and waste management appropriately.
• Supporting the Head Cook and kitchen staff with daily tasks.
• Monitoring and replenishing stock levels when necessary.

Required Qualifications for a Catering Assistant / Kitchen Assistant:

• Previous experience in a catering or kitchen assistant is desirable
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations. (we can assist you with a online course)
• Ability to work efficiently in a team and under pressure.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• A positive attitude and commitment to upholding safeguarding and child protection standards.
