An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant role within the Plastics & Packaging team. The role is to support the P&P Manager and the wider team in delivering ALDI’s Plastics & Packaging strategy.The successful candidate will take responsibility for delivering the departments pledges within their categories, working with suppliers to manage packaging changes through to completion. This will include developing new ideas and packaging formats to optimise product packaging, potentially introducing first to market solutions.

  • Provides a comprehensive and professional support service to the P&P Manager
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with external parties and service providers
  • Acts as the central point of communication for the National Buying Department and the wider business on packaging related matters
  • Manages the monthly packaging data and reporting processes ensuring efficient resolution of queries and ongoing management of the internal tracker
  • Coordination of annual internal and external packaging reports
  • Coordination of internal and external communications regarding plastics and packaging
  • Assists the P&P Manager in preparation of reports, presentations, and other materials
  • Acts as liaison point for Buying Assistants regarding general Plastics & Packaging related queries
  • Performs competitor reviews and product checks where necessary
  • Carries out research and media monitoring for Plastics & Packaging trends and competitor activity
  • Supports the wider Plastics & Packaging team where required
  • Working with business partners and Buying teams to implement packaging changes to benefit the business commercially

About You

  • Previous experience of working in a Buying or Sustainability related role
  • Clearly demonstrating a passion for sustainability
  • Excellent written and confident verbal communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read and understand data
  • Experience working in a packaging related role within the retail industry
  • Technical packaging knowledge as well as understanding of packaging related legislation (PRNs, EPR, Plastic Packaging Tax)
