- The responsibility is to run the weekly and monthly payroll, ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time
- Liaise with managers, staff, finance department, and external parties on various payroll matters, such as adjustments, deductions, absences, entitlements, pensions, audits, etc.
- Keep the payroll system and records up to date, verify the identity and bank details of new starters, generate payslips and reports, respond and resolve pay queries, prepare payroll correspondence and earnings enquiries
- Maintain accurate and complete records of sickness, holidays and other absences or adjustments. Review holiday entitlement in accordance with the new proposals and inform employees and managers accordingly
- Calculate holiday entitlement for new starters and leavers, taking into account their start date, end date, working hours and contract terms. Verify holiday records and coordinate with managers to ensure that employees use their entitled holidays.
- Liaise with Managers whenever necessary and update any inaccurate or incomplete records promptly.
- Oversee court orders and deductions from pay, such as attachment of earnings orders, child support orders or student loan repayments, liaise with councils and courts as required to confirm the amounts and duration of the deductions.
- Oversee Maternity, Paternity and Statutory Sick Pay. Ensure that employees are eligible, calculate the amounts and duration, keep records of the absences and payments, and reporting them to HMRC.
- Verify ID and bank details of new starters by checking documents, generate routine reports and payslips, such as gross and net pay, tax, national insurance, pension contributions, deductions, overtime, bonuses, etc., and ensure payslips are available either through e-mail or by hard copy.
- Respond and resolve pay queries from managers and staff via email, phone or in person, providing clear and accurate information and resolving any issues or discrepancies as soon as possible.
- Assist with Payroll elements of audits, gather and organise relevant documents and data for internal or external audits.
- Populate and prepare records and statistics for business and wider group in an accurate and timely manner
