Financial Accountant

We are seeking a Finance Officer to join our team at the college. This role involves managing the College's general ledger, assisting in the preparation of management accounts, and developing financial systems to ensure strong financial controls.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Maintain the general ledger and fixed asset register, and oversee the sales and purchase ledgers as required.
  • Process month-end journals, including accruals, internal transfers, and prepayments.
  • Produce and maintain a set of account reconciliations on a monthly basis, including reconciliations related to funding payments and tuition subcontractor payments.
  • Assist in the preparation of a first draft of the College management accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Support the preparation of year-end accounts and associated statutory returns.
  • Collaborate with the enrolment team to ensure a smooth enrolment process, capturing all fee payers onto the finance system during the main enrolment period.
  • Provide budget holders with essential budgetary reports and transactional information for effective management of their cost centres.
  • Work to enhance financial systems and controls, including implementing actions from audit reports.
  • Raise financial awareness across the College and develop financial systems and processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in financial management and accounting.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger operations and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and support various teams within the College.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
