This is a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Accounts Assistant to join our client, a family-run company based near Slough. Working closely with a small and busy finance team, you will be responsible for purchase & sales ledger and general accounts administration.
£21,000 - £25,000 depending on experience, plus discretionary bonus
25 days holiday
Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5pm office-based near Slough.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and updating the Purchase Ledger - assisting with uploading, coding, approving, and processing all supplier invoices for upload onto Xero and Sage 50
- Processing invoices, assisting with accounts queries, creating reports and credit control
- Preparing and reconciling accounts and statements
- Preparing Payment runs for approval
- Accounts administration - setting up new suppliers and customers, reviewing employee expense claim forms, performing credit checks, and allocating cash receipts and payments
- Business support - dealing with external queries from suppliers and customers, and assisting with internal queries from operations, sales, marketing, and compliance teams
- Performing reconciliations, identifying, and correcting errors, checking invoices, and ensuring quality data processing at all times
- Prepping and providing invoice documentation required for VAT returns
Skills & Experience:
- Experience in finance, accounts payable or accounts receivables or looking to develop a career within accounts
- Great admin and organisational skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Intermediate excel skills (desirable)
- Experience using Xero accounting software also desirable
- Process oriented with ability to quickly learn in-house financial systems
- Ability to work on own, and in a team
