Our client is a market-leading, family-owned care group operating over 100 homes across the UK with significant expansion plans. They are dedicated to delivering the highest quality care in bespoke homes supported by exceptional teams.

Together we are seeking a talented Head of PR & Communications to join this ambitious organisation. This new, strategic role has been created to support the group’s growth by enhancing its brand, increasing visibility, and promoting the business digitally.

The Role

As Head of PR & Communications, you will report directly to the CEO and lead the development of a comprehensive PR and communications strategy that aligns with the organisation’s mission and goals. This role involves pitching the business collectively to new funders and existing investors, leading public relations initiatives and collaborating with various departments to support the organisation's objectives. This role is pivotal in shaping and maintaining the branding of Care Concern Group, requiring a blend of strategic thinking, leadership, and communication expertise.

This role requires a creative, hands-on professional who is adept at working in a growing family-run business. You will lead efforts to:

  • Develop and implement PR strategies aligned with the organisation's objectives.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging, tone, and branding across all platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance brand awareness and public perception.
  • Manage relationships with current investors and assist in securing new funders.
  • Oversee the creation of press releases, speeches, newsletters, and other PR materials.
  • Monitor social media trends and respond to online feedback to maintain a positive public image.
  • Track and adjust digital campaign strategies based on performance analytics.
  • Ensure the organisation’s website reflects its brand identity, strategic goals, and is user-friendly.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external developers on content creation, SEO, and website performance.
  • Develop and implement crisis communication strategies, managing responses to negative publicity or emergencies.
  • Advocate for changes in health and social care policy, raising awareness of relevant issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, respond to media inquiries, and pitch stories to raise awareness.

Location

This is a hybrid position, primarily home-based, with nationwide travel required to support the organisation’s sites and initiatives.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree level education in PR, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering successful PR and communications strategies.
  • Experience working within a growing organisation is essential.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas persuasively.
  • Familiarity with businesses undergoing significant growth, preferably within family-owned organisations.
  • Proficiency in PR and media monitoring tools.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align communications efforts with organisational objectives.
  • Creative mindset with a flair for producing engaging content.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong media relationships and experience securing positive media coverage.
  • Expertise in crisis communication and reputation management.
  • Experience in building a function from scratch or working in a standalone role is beneficial.

Interview Process

This is a three-stage interview process:

  1. Initial phone screening and CV review with the Recruitment Director.
  2. A Teams interview with a senior team member.
  3. Final in-person interview with the CEO and potentially other board-level executives.
