Skilled CNC Mill-Turn Programmer/Setter/Operator

Location: Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury, HP22 5BLSalary: £28.00 per hour

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Skilled CNC Mill-Turn Programmer/Setter/Operator with mid-to-advanced experience in CNC machining to work on multi-axis machining centers like the Nakamura JX200 and WY150, and Doosan Smart Pro. You will program, set, and operate advanced 4- and 5-axis CNC machines, and utilise Esprit, Varicut, and Edgecam for offline programming and verification.

This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with a background in precision engineering, aerospace, or motorsport.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program, set, and operate multi-axis CNC milling and turning machines (Nakamura, Doosan).

  • Utilize CAD/CAM software (like Esprit, Varicut, Edgecam) for offline programming.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.

  • Ensure precision and efficiency in production while adhering to G-code and M-code.

  • Perform tooling setup, calibration, and maintenance of CNC machines.

  • Use precision instruments (micrometers, Verniers, high gauges) for quality control.

  • Innovate and implement one-hit machining methods to optimize production.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve machining strategies and minimize cycle times.

  • Manage robotic automation, including bar feed systems and robot loading/unloading.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Essential:

    • GCSEs in Math, English, and Science (or equivalent).

    • Proficiency in G-code and M-code.

    • Experience with Nakamura JX200, WY150, or Doosan machines.

    • Strong skills in technical drawing interpretation, inspection, and gauge use.

  • Desirable:

    • Certifications in CAD/CAM software (Esprit, Varicut, Edgecam).

    • Knowledge of advanced material properties (e.g., aerospace alloys).

    • CNC machining certifications and/or NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) certification
