  • You will be responsible for all aspects of reactive and routine maintenance and schemes, supporting the Capital team for street lighting aspects of large projects.

  • Ensure compliance with HERS and Sector Scheme 8, be custodian of the EIS, and deliver maintenance/schemes to contract performance targets.

You'll be directly responsible for all aspects of reactive and routine maintenance and schemes, the role will also support the Capital team for the street lighting aspects of large projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To work safely and promote a safe environment for all operations.

  • To manage the operational teams in line with budget, working constraints and specification on all relevant contracts

  • To ensure compliance with all aspects of HERS (Highways Electrical Registration) and Sector Scheme 8.

  • Be the custodian of the Electrical Inspection Scheme (EIS) and make recommendations from test results.

  • Deliver all aspects of maintenance / schemes to contract performance targets and deadlines

  • Ensure lighting works across the contract (whether self- delivered or sub-contract) are to the highest quality of workmanship and compliant to the relevant standards (including BS7671) including the appropriate certification.

  • Maintain accurate records for all activities including the appropriate as-built information and ensuring that all financial information is accurate, checked and available for internal reporting requirements and inclusion within applications.

  • Supporting the client across all aspects of the service including feeding into test (structural / electrical) into client's Asset Management plan.

  • To engage with Elected Members, Local Area Forums and the wider public in the support of client projects / objectives.

  • Prepare detailed reports on delivery progress, for presentation to senior management and the client.

  • To build a skilled lighting team and champion self delivery.

  • Mentor and develop the team and oversee the progression of Apprentices.

  • To provide clear and effective leadership and line management of team to ensure that staff are aware of their objectives, motivated and that productivity is maximised.

  • Work closely with the company, the client and all stakeholders to ensure that safer and more efficient ways of work are identified and delivered and value for money is delivered.

  • Drive innovation for technology, equipment and ways of work including the digitisation of all workstreams

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • HNC in Electrical Engineering
  • City & Guilds electrical installation and testing qualifications
  • Significant experience in the Street Lighting Industry Working knowledge of industry compliance schemes, such as the Highways Electrical Registration Scheme and Electrical Inspection Schemes.
  • IOSH Health & Safety Training and experience of Managing safety for Street Lighting works
  • Knowledge of BS7671 and BS5489
  • Experienced project engineer with a good understanding of design and construction.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, to manage a range of complex activities and to achieve given targets and objectives
  • Excellent time management skills to manage a complex workload prioritise and set deadlines and cope with changing demands.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of the systems, policies, procedures, professional guidelines, legislation, best practice and emerging developments within the scope of the service area
  • Budget and contract management experience
  • Experience of preparing and assessing tenders / contracts
  • Highways Electrical Registration Scheme Authorising Officer
  • ECS Invigilator
  • G39 Working in the vicinity of DNO services
