Shift Pattern: Monday- Friday, 9am-5pm.

About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our Estates team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. You will oversee the maintenance and management of mechanical systems across our hospital sites, ensuring a safe and suitable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Mechanical Systems: Ensure mechanical systems are operating safely and efficiently across multiple sites.
  • Provide Expert Advice: Offer technical advice on mechanical systems to managers and staff.
  • Contract Management: Manage all mechanical service contracts and ensure they meet regulations.
  • Compliance & Safety: Make sure mechanical systems comply with all legal and safety requirements.
  • Leadership & Coordination: Lead contractors and collaborate with other departments to meet service targets.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage budgets, ensuring value for money and compliance with Trust policies.
  • Training & Support: Provide technical training and advice to staff and contractors.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure all systems are maintained safely, conducting regular inspections and risk assessments.
  • Emergency Support: Be part of the on-call team for major service issues, ensuring minimal disruption to patient care.

Requirements:

  • Experience in mechanical engineering, ideally in a healthcare or facilities management setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of statutory regulations and best practices in mechanical systems and building services.
  • Ability to manage budgets, contractors, and projects.
  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering (HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience managing mechanical systems and contracts.
  • Willingness to travel across Trust sites and respond to emergencies.
